The earthquake had an initial reported magnitude of 5.46, which was later revised to 4.8 by the German Research Center for Geosciences (GFZ). The quake occurred at a depth of approximately 10 kilometers (6.2 miles). Although the tremor caused widespread concern, particularly in northern Syria, there were no immediate reports of significant damage or casualties.

The event served as a stark reminder of the region’s vulnerability to seismic activity, particularly given the proximity to major fault lines. Residents in areas affected by the tremor, especially in northern Syria, were particularly alarmed, recalling the devastating earthquake that struck the region in 2023.

Emergency response teams in Syria and Lebanon were on alert, although no serious incidents were reported in the immediate aftermath.
